Song For Rose

Stoney End

It was three am in the morning when the lights when on downstairs.
It was cold and dark and it was lonely and Lord knows how I was scared.
There was a pang in my heart.
It said, I have no fear; you must stay strong and hope for the best.?
But for some reason I couldn't hear.

I knew it the moment I looked right into my Daddy's eyes.
They were red with anger and sorrow and masked the wanting for his cries.
There was a pang in my heart.
It said, I have no fear; you must stay strong and hope for the best.?
But for some reason I couldn't hear.

The big brave girl I hid behind is still locked deep inside.
I wanted to scream, I wanted to shout.
But in my life that was not possibly allowed.
So these memories shook me in the night,
And the horrid dreams left me breathless with fright.

It was six am in the morning when I sat beside her bed.
Her hands were cold and trembling when I pressed my lips to her head.
Her eyes began to dance, her smile so broad.
And that was when she left this world and touched the breath of God.

The big brave girl I hid behind is still locked deep inside.
I wanted to scream, I wanted to shout.
But in my life that was not possibly allowed.
So these memories shook me in the night,
And the horrid dreams left me breathless with fright.

But at six am one morning, when I woke from that same dream,
The starts outside were beaming as I squinted form their gleam.
The moon began to dance; its smile so broad.
That's when I knew she was in a place touching the breath of God.
Touching the breath of God.
Touching the breath of God.
