최초의 비키니 수영복
비키니 수영복은 프랑스 디자이너 루이 레아르가 1946년 7월 파리의 패션쇼에서 발표되었는데, 쇼 4일 전 미국이 태평양의 비키니 환초에서 원자폭탄 실험을 했기 때문에, 레아르는 '최종적인 것' 이란 뜻으로 비키니란 말을 썼다고..^^. 꼭 비키니가 세계 패션계에 얼나마 큰 영향을 줄 지 짐작한 것 같죠? 이 최초의 비키니 수영복은 신문지를 도안해서 프린트한 무명 천이었는데, 이것을 입은 모델인 누드댄서였던 미셸린 베르나르디니(Micheline Bernardini)가 비키니를 입었고 사진이 널리 퍼져서 그녀는 무려 100,000여 통의 펜레터를 받았다고 합니다.
그러나 비키니 수영복이 대중적인 인기를 얻는데는 좀 더 시간이 걸렸었습니다. 특허까지 획득했지만 오히려 여성들의 강한 반발에 부딪혔기 때문이죠.
