The sixth day the sixth month
in the sixth year of the war
Normandy 1944
Men tanks planes and artillery
That was the day we arose from the sea
To survive I must get off this beach
It must be scaled it must be breached
Amongst the sand
along the coast Carnage
My campaign went further on
Past the hedgerows and into Caen
Minutes like hours and hours days
To close the gap now onto Falaise
Amongst the trees
along the roads Carnage
Over the ridge clearly I see
Tigers approaching numbering three
Airstrike is called
Typhoons swept in
Rocket bombardment
Now onto Berlin
